Happy New Year 2009

Happy New Year to my family and friends...

Time Flies.. Year 2008 to me.. was happy and yet not so happy (Paradox)... haha.... I would not further elaborate here.. I will just keep it to myself the happy and the sad things. If I wrote a list of events starting from January to December..People will be bored reading it.. haha..... Actually not a very long year for all of us, isn't it?

Many people said..New year, new beginning, new adventure... Is it true?
We still have to continue with what we are doing currently, do our best in the new year and finally hope for the best.. Perhaps some new goals to achieve in a new year.. But every goal we set for ourselves; aren't they the same every year?? haha...... Maybe only mine are always the same for every year.. Perhaps, my goals for year 2009 will be slightly different from previous years.. Ya, slightly different..but the main objectives behind them are still the same.. haha......

I don't know what I am writing in this post.. haha...... If u can understand then Good... haha...

Just want to wish everyone: For year 2009, hope everyone can do their very best in everything and have the best of LUCK. The most important is wish everyone will be in a good state of health and happy always...

A Small Spider...

This colorful tiny spider was found outside my house yesterday night.. I spotted it so took some of these photos..haha..... Wondering what type is this; -poisonous or non-poisonous?.. Hope it is not poisonous..haha.... Never saw this type of spider before...

Don't know why.. I like spiders nowadays.. haha.....

HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE

I want to take the opportunity here to wish my family, friends and everyone a Happy Winter Solstice; 冬至快乐!

Here is a brief description and history of the celebration of Winter Solstice.
The Chinese in ancient times found out that the Winter Solstice was the shortest day in the year.
There may be two reasons why Chinese hold celebration on this day. One, is that after a hard working year, farmers always take a rest to enjoy their harvest. The second reason has to do with the theory of Yin and Yang (hahaha......... I don't understand this..).
To the Chinese, Winter Solstice often means a happy get-together. However, since the pace of living has become faster and people are now busier, some customs have fallen into oblivion.

Many youngsters nowadays don't know what is Winter Solstice and the meanings behind this celebration (including myself....haha....). We only know on this day, we eat Tangyuan, a kind of stuffed dumpling made of glutinous rice and served in soup...and I had helped to make some of those yesrterday night.. hahaha........ On this day, some families will have a reunion...which is very great..

The message or lesson I realised from this moment is it doesn't really matter if we know the full history of this Winter Solstice celebration or not, as long as all our family members, relatives and friends are in a good state of health and everyone is enjoying each other's company (in chinese 和和气气).. then nothing else matters....


Honestly, the history part is fully plagiarised from the Internet... haha........ Xiang Rong, don't 'bomb' me because of that..haha.......

10 days had passed....

It had been 4 days since my last post.. 10 days had passed in our holidays and still I am doing nothing meaningful...

What I had done starting from last Friday was... Hmm..... Ya, on Friday, after doing some housework, I went to the National Library.. Still I can tell you, Taylor's library is much more better than the National Library.. They have the same system too.. Reserve items and on shelf items, but the reserved items, you can't borrow out from the library... And, the reserve items are far more than the on shelf items.. So, in the end, i borrowed 3 novels..2 by James Patterson and 1 by Paul Auster. James Patterson-Honeymoon and Step on A Crack while Paul Auster-Oracle Night. The reasons I borrow these books are I really can't stand reading Pride and Prejudice anymore, can't understand at all.. and I like fictions.. plus I have nothing better to do at home.. So, that was my Friday last week.

Saturday, I went to KLCC for the PIKOM PC Fair.. with a few buddies.. All are my former classmates and friends.. It was fun and great having a small gathering with them.. So, the old sayings from my school must be true -"Once a Victorian, always a Victorian"..(We were from Victoria Institution for your information.. Really miss my schooling days..) Next week, i am going out with my brothers again perhaps.. hahahahaha.............. Then, after the PC fair.. we went for a movie.. "Transporter 3"! haha.......... Then, Xiang Rong sms telling me the results for our final exams were out on Taylors Online a second later from the moment I sat down waiting for the movie.. Nice timing... haha... All the mood for watching a great movie were gone and for the entire movie, I kept worrying about my average.. haha....... Fortunately, my results are still fine.. slightly above the cut-off point.. haha...

Sunday, which was yesterday... I played badminton in the morning and read my novels for the whole afternoon... haha...... At nite, went out for dinner with my parent and my mom's friends..

Will Science and Technology destroy mankind in the end?
Yes? No?
No one knows the answer. When we know the answer is Yes, it will be too late for us, homo sapiens will be entirely wiped out from the planet Earth. If the answer is No, then it will be GREAT!

Science and Technology had created the fearsome nuclear weapons. One was enough to destroy the entire Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The present nuclear warheads are far more frightening (You can go and find out yourself in the magazine Scientific American; it’s very hard for me to give further explanations here). Plus, the developed countries use nuclear energy to generate electricity, everyone knows it is hazardous but due to the increase in human population, that is the only choice because nuclear fuel is the most efficient. Maintenance for nuclear plants costs million of dollars.

Robots. We are too depending on them to do our work. Yes, by using them, more work can be done, productivity increases, work efficiency increases. However, with them, the living environment for us will be comfortable, without any needs for survival, will we, mankind becomes lazy and weak??

Genetic engineering. Recombinant DNA. Any living things on Earth can be genetic engineered to near perfection. Genetic codes are universal. Will humans be immortal in future? Perhaps, yes! With human genome project ongoing, why not? Will we be half human half robot? Perhaps, yes too! We can manipulate our genes using computers (bioinformatics) and play around with it on our finger tips. Organs transplant, artificial organs. Why can’t human be immortal in future? Immortal. Human population will definitely increase, food shortage, destruction of mankind.

In many parts of the world, many people are suffering and many are doing their best to help and save them but at another part of the hemisphere, many are doing their best to destroy themselves; eventually destroying mankind.

I am just crapping here due to “nothing better to do” in this semester break. There are actually many things to be done but I couldn’t think of any currently so I came up with this crap post. Hahahaha……………….

First Day of Break...

As you can see, it is now 2:13 a.m. Saturday... One day had past in our semester holidays. However for some of you who took Physics paper, today is the first day for your semester holiday. (Don't know what am I crapping here). Anyway, what I really want to say here is HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE & SEE YOU ALL IN THE YEAR 2009!!
